Orby - 2015
Everything can seem beautiful from far, but at a closer look, faults become visible. The earth is a primary example of this disparity. Its cities, people and problems are at odds with its serenity, apparent from space. The inspiration for the collection ORBY arrives from this contrast. The green and blue linens represent the earth’s beauty and perfection from afar. At a closer look, the use of black details, embroidery and handwork illustrate the hidden faults. Focusing on the circles indicating the shape of the earth that adorn the garments will show that they are actually frayed and flawed. The playful collection experiments with a-line dresses and other classical forms, however the use of texture and raw edges creates a forward touch to the wearable items.
