Rage as Ritual- 2025
Growing up with divergent views on the world and self-expression led to a clash between the designer and society, a mutual anger over how things should or shouldn’t be. This tension shaped a worldview where people became formless beings, and the designer, the lone wolf. This collection transforms that anger into motivation, using destruction as the foundation for bold self-expression. It began by revisiting old sketches, once an outlet for frustration, and reimagining them through mixed media: acrylic paint applied with spatulas, razor etching, ink sketches, and layered collages. A recurring wolf motif symbolizes duality, balancing fierceness and gentleness. Fabric experimentation played a central role. Red cotton was ice-dyed for a blotchy effect and accented with black paint, while brown fabric was treated with bleach for variation. Frayed blue chiffon, unraveled ropes, and crocheted glossy elements contrasted matte textures. Needle felting added roughness, and silkscreen and freehand painting completed the collection’s dynamic, tactile aesthetic.
