Safa’a Al-Bardeni
Tamettut - 2022
The ancient Amazigh civilisation is characterized by its women-lead nature. Their culture celebrates the dual roles of women in society - warriors and caretakers. This collection celebrates the Amazigh culture and their perception of women. Representing the womb, the triangle is an important symbol for the Amazigh people. For this reason, triangles are prominent in the collection. First hand drawn, the triangle print was then digitized on net fabric. The duality of women as warriors as well as caretakers is expressed through the use of tough fabrics such as denim in juxtaposition with soft fabrics like net, as well as two different embroidery techniques, hand and machine.
