This collection explores the question: are we really in control of our own lives? A battle for control ensues in the landscape of the mind. This exploration appears in Anis’s collection through various techniques. In general, shapes and volumes are dramatic and unconventional. A contrast between shape-obscuring oversized jackets and body-defining fitted corsets runs through the collection - depicting the battle against illusion. Quilting and stuffing create voluminous and bubbling pieces that represent the physical brain, where the storyline is set. The color palette transitions peaceful and cool greens, to more heated reds and oranges. Two contrasting prints - block and digital - were also created to illustrate the inspiration.
