Emergency Appeal
Help us Keep the Doors of Creative Space Beirut Open
Dear Friends,
I am reaching out to you during one of the most challenging times we’ve ever faced. With the intensifying Israeli bombardment amidst Lebanon’s ongoing economic depression and the absence of government systems, Creative Space Beirut’s ability to continue its mission is at serious risk.
In the short term, we are bringing our community together to assess the situation, identify urgent needs, and explore how we can use our resources to support civil society efforts. However, the continuity of our institution is in dire trouble. We had worked hard to create a robust fundraising strategy for the year, but our revenue streams from grants, donations, collaborations, sales, services, and events have all been paused due to the security situation, or redirected to emergency services. As a result, we are struggling to keep our doors open.
The loss of income, coupled with rising rent and operating costs, threatens the continuation of our programs and the essential support we provide to our students. Without immediate help, their education—and their futures—are in jeopardy.
What We Do
Design is a powerful tool for shaping the world, yet access to design education remains limited to those who can afford it. In 2011, I co-founded Creative Space Beirut with my mentor, Caroline Simonelli, to challenge this. What began as a small studio with five students has evolved into a three-year program offering free, high-quality fashion design education and alumni career support to talented youth from underserved communities. Our aim is to break down barriers and build a more inclusive and socially responsible creative industry.
Our Impact
Creative Space Beirut is a transformative force for design education in the SWANA region. With a 94% job placement rate, our graduates have pursued advanced studies, launched brands, and worked with renowned designers. Alumni Roni Helou, Amir Al Kasm, and Ahmed Amer have received the prestigious Fashion Trust Arabia Award. We’ve also been recognized by GQ Middle East and Fashion Trust Arabia for nurturing emerging talent and shaping the future of fashion.
Who We Are Supporting
Our students come from marginalized backgrounds across Lebanon. Many are currently displaced by the ongoing war. They depend on us not only for education but also for housing and essential resources. With full-time schedules and no stable income, many students face the risk of dropping out if their education is interrupted.
What We Need
This year’s new students have been identified, registered, and are eager to begin their journey. However, their education—and that of our current students—is in jeopardy. Our fundraising efforts have been paused, and securing grants has become increasingly challenging amidst Lebanon’s deepening crisis. Our commitment to our students’ education remains unwavering, but we need your help to keep them safe, supported, and engaged. Together, we can ensure they continue their studies and build the futures they deserve.
