The Knot was inspired by the designer’s personal story and creative journey. In order to make it through difficult moments, one must find the key to their inspiration and motivation. In the collection, differing volumes and contrasting colors illustrate the ups and downs of the journey. Layering light fabrics such as organza and chiffon represents the various layers that need to be peeled back. A motif of chains is present in the collection, representing the insecurities that hold an artist back. They appear in different dyeing techniques, including cyanotype, bleaching, and fabric dyeing. Drawstrings are also present, illustrating the knots that need to be undone to unlock creative potential.
