Better Than Yesterday
A Collaboration Between CSB Students and Mukhi Sisters

At Creative Space Beirut, collaborations are both a learning opportunity and a powerful tool for growth, exchange, and real-world experience. Working hand-in-hand with leading creative voices allows our students to sharpen their skills, stretch their imaginations, and step confidently into the professional world. Our recent collaboration with the celebrated jewelry brand Mukhi Sisters was a perfect example of how partnerships can spark innovation and community, and how shared values around creativity and sustainability can lead to something special.
Earlier this spring, Mukhi Sisters invited CSB students to collaborate on a unique project inspired by the concept of their Better Than Yesterday collection. The line celebrates hope, perseverance, and small wins through collaborations with CSB, boutique stationery and packaging brand Alacarte Cards, and handcrafted products by Asma’s Crafts. The brief challenged students to design and create between 20 to 50 one-of-a-kind bag charms that integrated upcycled fabric, beaded gemstones or pearls, and the phrase "Better Than Yesterday."
Students were encouraged to explore embroidery, playful constructions and patchwork techniques, finding ways to incorporate the message both visually and conceptually. It was an opportunity not only to design beautiful, tangible pieces but to think deeply about how storytelling and craftsmanship can come together in meaningful objects.
Sustainability was at the heart of the collaboration. Students repurposed fabric scraps, transforming waste into intricate charms that carried layers of memory, material history, and care. The use of upcycled materials aligned with CSB’s emphasis on environmental responsibility and resonated with Mukhi Sisters' playful yet thoughtful approach to design.
The project culminated in a vibrant showcase event hosted at the Mukhi Sisters boutique in downtown Beirut. Friends, family, industry professionals, and members of the public gathered to celebrate the fruit of the collaboration. Each handmade item, sitting delicately among Mukhi Sisters' jewelry collections, told its own story of strength, creativity, and hope.
It was a proud moment for our students to see their creations contextualized within a professional retail environment, alongside the work of established designers. It was also a reminder that design, at its best, builds bridges: between generations, between brands and new talents, between vision and reality.
